Poker Edition: Day 7 - Am I getting camera shy?

Hello everyone and welcome to the poker edition!

Today we hit the tables and try to get back to winning ways.

If you haven't already then please watch today's session so you are all up to date.

Ok so now you have seen that you know that we had another small loss again today.

This happened yesterday but I continued to play off camera and managed to turn a profit. Did this happen today? Well I will let the graphs do the talking.

Today's sessions

Full graph of all sessions so far.

So as you can tell HELL YEA WE RUN IT UP! We ended the day up 3 buy ins. That is the biggest day of profit so far and also means we extended our winning days run to 6! Not too shabby at all. Now lets get into the analysis section of today's post.

Table Information
Seat1:   Player 1   ($0.40)Dealer
Seat2:   Player 2   ($2.26)Small Blind
Seat4:   Player 4   ($2)Big Blind
Seat6:   Hero   ($2.99)
Seat7:   Player 7   ($0.83)
Seat9:   Player 9   ($0.40)
Dealt to Hero

Preflop (Pot:0.03)
Hero   RAISE    $0.07
Player 7   CALL    $0.07
Player 9   FOLD
Player 1   FOLD
Player 2   FOLD
Player 4   FOLD

Dealt Ace Ten under the gun and open for a bot sized bet. Get called by middle position who we have 71 hand sample on; the sample we have on this player shows villain is a tight passive player, with 16/12 vpip/pfr and 100% fold to cbet.

Flop   (Pot: $0.17)

Hero   BET    $0.12
Player 7   CALL    $0.12

Make top pair and bet strongly into the pot due to the players tendency to fold to cbet and to charge any draws villain might have.

Turn   (Pot: $0.41)

Hero   BET    $0.20
Player 7   CALL    $0.20

Villain calls and the turn pairs the board. Decide to bet again to fold any 9x hands, over cards villain decided to peel with and to once again charge any draw villain may be on.

River   (Pot: $0.81)

Hero   CHECK
Player 7   ALL-IN    $0.44
Hero   FOLD

Villain once again calls. The turn doesn't bring in any draws. I have begun to get suspicious of the villain. From the information we have on them we can see they are fairly tight and play a passive game. So when they keep calling our bets on an Ace high board we can be sure they have something. I check to villian thinking they might check back, however they shove the rest of their stack into the pot. I put villain on a better Ace, for a tight player I don't think he is often calling an under the gun raise with an Ace worse than the one we hold. Based on villains stats and the way this hand unfolded these are the hands I believe he could hold on the river.

This means our best hope for this hand is to tie. Due to the rake this would still not end our hand in profit although it would recover some of the money we have put into the pot so far. We are crushed by villains range.

Even if we increase villains range slightly weaker aces and some over pairs so it looks something like this.

The ev of the call is $0.00 so I am happy to fold here.

Showdown:

Player 7  MUCKS

Player 7  wins the pot: $1.25

Now onto the next hand!

Table Information
Seat1:   Player 1   ($0.40)Dealer
Seat2:   Hero   ($2.33)Small Blind
Seat4:   Player 4   ($0.85)Big Blind
Seat6:   Player 6   ($0.38)
Seat7:   Player 7   ($0.89)
Seat9:   Player 9   ($3.44)
Dealt to Hero

Preflop (Pot:0.03)
Player 6   FOLD
Player 7   FOLD
Player 9   FOLD
Player 1   FOLD
Hero   RAISE    $0.06
Player 4   CALL    $0.04

King suited in the small blind I decide to attack the dead money in the point and attempt a steal. The big blind calls.

Flop   (Pot: $0.13)

Hero   BET    $0.09
Player 4   CALL    $0.09

We get top pair and the board has a flush draw so we decided to cbet and either take the pot down or charge villain for his flush draw. Villain calls.

Turn   (Pot: $0.31)

Hero   BET    $0.15
Player 4   CALL    $0.15

The turn adds an extra flush draw to the board and also adds a straight to the board. I still think I have top pair in this situation and decide to bet the turn to once again charge any draws he may have or any weaker kings. Villain calls again.

River   (Pot: $0.61)

Hero   BET    $0.22
Player 4   ALL-IN    $0.55
Hero   CALL    $0.33

None of the draws come in and I still believe I have a strong top pair. It is possible that villain has two pair here as well. I bet again to get value from my King and get raised. This put me in a tough spot and I was not sure whether or not to call; in reality this should be an easy fold lets take a look at what villains range is in this situation.

.
Once again we are crushed by this range and have only a 4% equity against it so it's an easy fold.

Showdown:

Hero  SHOWS
Player 4  SHOWS
Player 4  wins the pot: $0.61

Unfortunately I talked myself into calling and lost an extra $0.33.

So one action was right and one action was wrong!

I need to be more aware of my equity in the pot in these situations and that is something that will happen with time and more practice.

That wraps it up for today!
